As the warm season approaches, biting insects, particularly midges and mosquitoes, become a problem. Fyodor Lapiy, pediatric infectious disease doctor, head of the National Technical Group of Experts on Immunoprophylaxis, explained on the air of the telethon how dangerous midge bites are.
He noted that midge and mosquito bites cause a local allergic reaction.
“It itches, it bothers you. Especially when it comes to children. More itching is manifested at night. This is connected with certain daily rhythms of our body,” the expert explained.
Lapiy emphasized that insects themselves do not transmit infection through bites. However, the risk is different.
“The risk can be from the fact that … the fingers went to where the bacteria live, and then you started scratching the bite site and brought the infection there, and the purulent infection started,” Lapii said.
As reported by UNIAN, Kyiv residents were previously warned about treating lawns against ticks (acaricidal treatment). The warning concerned a number of parks in different areas of the city.
In particular, such processing was carried out in the “Pushcha-Vodytsia”, “Natalka”, “Peremoga” and “Nyvka” parks.
Also earlier, the Kyiv City State Administration noted that the city does not plan to open the beach season this year.
