The ex-first racket of the world – Spanish tennis player Garbiñe Muguruza has officially announced the end of her professional career, reports sport.ua.

The 30-year-old Spanish tennis player played her last match back in January 2023.

The athlete has 10 victories at the tournaments of the Women’s Tennis Association. Muguruza is a 2-time Grand Slam winner – the 2016 French Open and 2017 Wimbledon.

The Spaniard also led the WTA singles ranking for four weeks (from September 11 to October 8, 2017).

In total, during Muguruza’s career at the WTA level, she won 449 victories with 238 defeats (win percentage – 65.4).

At the beginning of April, the first racket of Ukraine, Elina Svitolina, was eliminated from the WTA 500 Charleston Open tournament in the USA. In the 1/8 finals, the Ukrainian tennis player lost to Elise Mertens from Belgium in two sets. Svitolina was the last athlete from Ukraine at this tournament. Before that, Angelina Kalinin left the competition.
